History of Manor |
Harlaxton Manor was built in the 1830s Gregory Gregory, a wealthy businessman. It is constructed with Gothic, Jacobethan and Baroque styles of architecture. Furthermore, Ancaster stone was used in the construction of the Manor. This elegant Manor in the countryside can be seen off in the distance. The Manor is famous for its mile long drive, known as the Naked Mile, that runs from the country road up to the Manor. Harlaxton Manor has to be seen to be believed. All of the pictures do not do it justice. Not only is the outside spectacular, but the inside is equally extraordinary. It is constructed in the Tudor style of architecture. Over time, this masterpiece has become a college campus that is owned by the University of Evansville, Indiana, USA. In 1999, Harlaxton Manor got to show off its elegant beauty on the big screen. Part of the movie The Haunting was filmed using the exterior of Harlaxton Manor as well as the Great Hall in the interior. This was an exciting experience for all of those who are a part of Harlaxton Manor. Click on this link to find out more in-depth information about Harlaxton Manor.
